Events
Besides regular partner meetings to discuss work progress, AMPERE organized several workshops and events with external participants to exchange on research direction and results.
Final AMPERE conference on future climate policy, 21 January 2014: The final AMPERE conference discussed Europe's role in future global climate policy. It was a booked-out event. Presenters from the European Commission, the AMPERE consortium, and stakeholders and experts from the EU, China and USA discussed their insights on climate change mitigation pathways, the role of technology, and the role of European climate policy. You can find the presentations here.
2nd AMPERE stakeholder workshop, 12 June 2013: Twenty-five participants, including representatives from the European Commission, industry, research institutions, and consultancies participated in three discussion topics: (1) Stakeholder perspectives: European and international emission targets, and how to get there, (2) Making or breaking climate targets: the role of technologies, timing and international coverage, (3) Focus on Europe: pathways to decarbonisation between carbon leakage and lock-in.
Technology Workshop, 27-28 May 2013: The workshop aimed to help researchers strengthen their analyses of technological change and to introduce endogenous technology dynamics in large-scale energy or integrated assessment models. The workshop combined the perspectives of researchers involved in climate policy modelling with those of researchers more specialized in the economics of technological change. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the EU-funded ADVANCE project and the PIAMDDI project, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The workshop agenda and presentations can be found here.
Validation Workshop, 28-29 May 2013: The workshop brought together researchers from the integrated assessment modelling community with scholars who have worked on the evaluation of models in a variety of fields. Discussions ranged from philosophy to applied energy, environmental, climate and economic modelling. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the PIAMDDI project, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The workshop agenda and presentations can be found here.
1st AMPERE stakeholder workshop, 22 May 2012: The workshop gathered representatives from the European Commission, industry, research institutions, and consultancies to discuss what input from the integrated assessment community is fundamental for negotiations and the policy process, to review existing modeling assessments and highlight main challenges in translating key results for other communities.
